Vietnam Metrology Institute Expands Comprehensive Cooperation with Guangxi Institute of Metrology and Testing

In an effort to strengthen international integration and enhance national metrology capabilities in the new development phase, Vietnam Metrology Institute (VMI) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on comprehensive cooperation with the Guangxi Institute of Metrology and Testing (GXIMT) of China. The agreement marks a new chapter in bilateral collaboration, paving the way for deeper cooperation in metrology, digital transformation, and sustainable green development between the two countries.
On May 28, 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between the Vietnam Metrology Institute (VMI) and the Guangxi Institute of Metrology and Testing (GXIMT) in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. The event marked a significant milestone, establishing a comprehensive framework for cooperation between Vietnam’s and China’s leading metrology institutions.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both sides. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Mr. Tran Hau Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the National Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Viet Nam under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Other attendees from the Vietnam Metrology Institute included Mrs. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha, Director; Mr. Nguyen Anh Son and Mr. Do Duc Nguyen, Deputy Directors; as well as representatives of the Institute’s specialized departments.
Representing the Vietnamese diplomatic mission, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong, Consul General of Vietnam in Nanning, Guangxi, also attended the ceremony. Her presence underscored the strong support and keen interest of the Vietnamese diplomatic representation in fostering this strategically important professional cooperation initiative.
Representing the Chinese side were officials from the Guangxi Administration for Market Regulation (GXAMR), the leadership of the Guangxi Institute of Metrology and Testing (GXIMT), and representatives from relevant specialized departments and affiliated units.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, VMI and GXIMT will dedicate resources to establishing broad and in-depth cooperation in key areas that align with emerging development trends and the demands of the modern era:
Green and Sustainable Development: Focusing on metrology capabilities to support the development of new energy technologies and the transition toward a greener and more sustainable economy.
Trade and Logistics Infrastructure: Promoting legal metrology to support trade and logistics activities while enhancing regional connectivity.
Digital Transformation: Advancing the adoption of digital technologies in metrology and leading the development of next-generation smart laboratories.
To turn these objectives into concrete actions, the two parties agreed to maintain regular exchanges of experts, develop high-quality human resources through training programs, and organize specialized technical workshops. In addition, VMI and GXIMT will collaborate on international interlaboratory comparison programs, strengthen scientific research activities, and promote the application of artificial intelligence in metrology.
At the ceremony, leaders of both institutes shared the view that metrology infrastructure plays a fundamental role in economic development. They reaffirmed that, in the context of deepening international integration, strengthening metrology capabilities is essential to improving productivity and product quality, facilitating international trade, protecting the environment, and advancing sustainable economic growth.

The successful signing of the Memorandum of Understanding not only contributes to strengthening the longstanding friendship and promoting scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and China but also serves as a clear testament to Vietnam Metrology Institute’s commitment to proactive international integration.
