Within the framework of cooperation with the China Productivity Center (CPC), on June 7, 2024, the Comission for the Standards, Metrology and Quality of Viet Nam (STAMEQ) chaired a meeting with representatives of the CPC and Taiwanese businesses in the field of green and renewable energy.

On the Vietnamese side, Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Acting Chairman of STAMEQ, chaired the reception. On the Taiwan side, in addition to the CPC, there were also representatives of Taiwanese Green Businesses, including: Shinfox Energy Group Company, FOXWELL Power Company (subsidiary of Shinfox), Global Green Material Company, Green Matrix Consulting and Great Talent Tech Company.

In recent times, Vietnam has made significant progress towards sustainable green growth, actively contributing to solving the global climate crisis. Initiatives such as the National Green Growth Strategy for the period 2021 – 2030, vision to 2050, National Climate Change Strategy and COP26 commitment to achieve global net zero emissions by 2050 highlights Vietnam’s dedication to sustainable environmental development.

Ensuring a sustainable future and achieving net zero emissions is paramount towards a cleaner, more resilient environment. Towards that goal, STAMEQ has established a specialized Task Force for Greenhouse Gas, under the direction of Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, with the goal of minimizing the adverse environmental impact of industries, while improving productivity and strengthening resilience to future challenges.

Sharing at the meeting, representing Taiwan shared Taiwan’s plan: ‘The path to achieving net zero emissions by 2050’, which outlines four major transformations in energy, industry, lifestyle and society. The plan includes two essential governance platforms in technology research and development (R&D) and climate law, supported by 12 key strategies. These strategies include renewable sources (wind and solar, hydrogen, energy innovation), energy systems (storage, savings and efficiency), decarbonization (capture, absorption and means zero carbon), zero waste, green lifestyle, green finance.

To achieve net zero emissions by 2050, Taiwan aims to increase the share of renewable energy and natural gas in its energy mix to 20% and 50%, respectively, while reducing the share of coal. down 30% by 2025.

The meeting is an opportunity for stakeholders to share their roles and impacts in applying green productivity in the circular economy, and together find solutions to help achieve the Development Goals based on ESG.
