The 42nd Conference of the International Codex Technical Committee on Analytical Methods and Sampling (CCMAS)

The 42nd Conference of the International Codex Technical Committee on Analytical Methods and Sampling was held from 13-16 June 2023.
This year the conference was held in person in Budapest, Hungary. Attending the Conference was about 200 delegates from member countries, 01 member organization and international organization for standardization such as ISO, AOAC, IDF and a number of observer organizations.
The Vietnamese delegation that attended the conference included: Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Director of Food Safety Department, Standing Vice Chairman of Vietnam Codex Committee, head of the delegation. Members of the delegation included leaders of the Office of the Vietnam Codex Committee, the leaders of the Office of the Food Safety Authority, the President of the Vietnam Livestock Association and some members of the Vietnam Codex Committee. Joining the mission, on the side of the General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, there were Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Director of the Department of Standards and Regulation Conformity Assessment who attended the conference.
Mr. Attila Nagy, Chairman of the Codex Technical Committee on Analytical Methods and Sampling opened the Conference to welcome the participants of the Conference. Representative of FAO and Mr. Steven Weane, Chairman of the International Codex Committee welcomed the participants of the Conference.
The conference will discuss a variety of topics related to analytical method reviews for product groups within the Codex standards. An important topic discussed during the working day was the review and update of Codex 234-Recommended Sampling and Analytical Methods.
The Codex Conferences and the CAC Conferences, as well as rules on the selection of class II methods from class III techniques for calibration reasons, as a method of verification and in the event of a dispute, will all be covered during the Conference.
