Strengthening partnerships for the international certification of productivity specialists

On March 15 and 16, 2023, in Ulan Bator (Ulaanbataar), Mongolia, the 5th Annual Meeting of the Council for the Recognition of International Productive Professionals (Board) took place. The conference was attended by Mr. Tran Quoc Dung, Director of the Conformity Certification Center attending the Conference as a representative of the National Productivity Organization (General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality).

The conference included a wide range of topics to improve the capability of certification and accreditation agencies, foster social recognition, and improve member collaboration. The conference put more emphasis on the necessity of guaranteeing independence and impartiality in the identification and certification of successful professionals and put up strategies to do so.

Currently, APO’s productivity specialist certification program consists of two programs: productivity specialist and green productivity specialist. However, the demand in the public service sector is growing, so the Council plans to expand into this area (certification of productivity professionals in the public service sector).

In particular, strategies to promote the certification program for productivity professionals in member nations were discussed at the conference by approved certification bodies of productivity specialists. The productivity specialist certification program and plans for promoting the general productivity movement were considered by the council members.

The conference appreciated Vietnam’s lessons in achieving the Government’s deep interest in the productivity movement, especially through the Science-Based Productivity Master Plan. technology and innovation in the 2021-2030 period (Decision 36/QD-TTg dated January 10, 2021) and the National Program to support enterprises to improve productivity and quality of products and goods in this period. 2021-2030 (Decision No. 1322/QD-TTg dated August 30, 2020, known as “Program 1322”).

The Conference agreed to appoint Vietnam as the Head of the Working Group to develop the Mutual Recognition Agreement on the results of certification of productivity experts. Such an agreement would make it possible for productivity professionals to be certified by one member to be recognized when operating in another, while also helping to form a cross-country network of productivity professionals.

Earlier, in the Opening session, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) was elected as Chairman of the Council for the term 2023-2025.
