MoU Signing ceremony between STAMEQ and UL Solutions (USA)

On August 15, 2024, at the Headquarters of the Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam (STAMEQ), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between STAMEQ and UL Solutions.

The head of the Vietnamese delegation is Acting Director General Dr. Ha Minh Hiep and representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, along with leaders of departments and units under STAMEQ. On the UL Solutions side, in addition to the presence of Ms. Jennifer Scanlon, Head of the delegation, CEO of UL Solutions, the signing ceremony also had the participation of the delegation of the US Embassy in Vietnam, led by Mr. Marc Knapper, Ambassador Extraordinary of the United States in Vietnam.

UL (Underwriters Laboratory) of the United States – is a leading prestigious conformity assessment organization in the United States and the world, providing solutions in safety science and conformity certification with a presence in over 100 countries worldwide.

Through cooperation activities with UL, units in STAMEQ will have opportunities to learn and share experiences, access the latest technical information, participate in and coordinate the implementation of technical services and sign mutual recognition agreements between organizations, facilitating trade support and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in regional and international markets.

The two sides believe that this memorandum of understanding will be a premise for cooperation in the fields of policy development, conformity assessment, inspection and certification, supporting the reduction of technical barriers to trade, contributing to economic development and enhancing international competitiveness, meeting the needs of industries and consumers of each side’s economy. The memorandum of understanding, after signing, is expected to further expand technical cooperation with UL in the fields of EMC, chemistry, and electrical and electronic products on the basis of mutual recognition of results to support domestic enterprises to export goods to the US and Asian markets.

The signing ceremony took place successfully and ended at 3:30 p.m. on August 15, 2024, witnessed by US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper and delegates from the two countries.
