International Workshop: Standard for Door Locks and Accessories

Towards the common goal is to bring security and safety to all Vietnamese people, while aiming to have a series of standards for locks and door accessories that are synchronous and effective; Vietnam Institute of Architecture (Ministry of Construction) with 40 years of experience in the field of Standardization has collaborated with Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute (VSQI) under the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology) together with ALLEGION PLc Group (USA) co-organized the International Conference: Standards for door locks and accessories.
Attending the workshop were Mr. Jeffrey M.Wood – Chairman of Allegion Group in Asia-Pacific Region, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh – Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Mr. Wayne Robert Pannel – Vice Chairman of South Asia Zone – Allegion Group, Mr. Tony Park – Member of the Advisory Association of Hardware System Architecture – Allegion Group, Mr. Tran Van Hoc – Vice Chairman of Vietnam Standards and Consumer Protection Association and national and international speakers, experts. On the side of Vietnam Institute of Architecture, there were representatives of the functional departments of Institute and Mr. Do Thanh Tung – Director of Vietnam Institute of Architecture ran the workshop.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Director of Vietnam Institute of Architecture – Mr. Do Thanh Tung shared about the importance of having a standard system and standards for door locks and accessories to meet security requirements of safety, improvement the quality of life in the context of international integration and to create a legal corridor for the design, construction of housing and public works. The workshop also received comments on Australian, American and European Standards as well as assessments of current status of standards and requirements in Vietnam. The discussion was received valuable comments from experts, architects such as Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh, Le Dinh Tri and Nguyen Tien Thuan, etc.
Speaking to summarize the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh – Deputy Director General of the STAMEQ stated that Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute (VSQI) was the leading unit in the Standard field and was the Science and Technology organization under the General STAMEQ. Therefore, it is necessary to coordinate with businesses, namely Allegion Plc Group to develop standards for door locks and accessories. The need to improve product quality and competitiveness of enterprises is an objective need to promote the development of standards for door locks and accessories in the coming time. Finally, he would like to thank the experts attending the workshop, and to express the hope that there will soon be a series of standards for door locks and accessories./.
