February 2023: Vietnam at ISO Asia-Pacific Forum: Excellence brings prosperity

At a recent meeting of the ISO Asia-Pacific Forum, Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Acting Deputy director general of the General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ), presented a presentation to member nations of the ISO in the region. Asia-Pacific with the slogan: Prosperity comes from quality.

The main content of this Forum revolves around the topic: How ISO member countries maintain compliance with the policies of the ISO Organization, together with Vietnam, the Australian Standards Agency (SA) and the National Assembly. Nepal Standardization Authority (NBSM) participated in the presentation at the Forum.

Dr. Ha Minh Hiep briefly presented the process of formation and development of STAMEQ, highlighting 06 main projects submitted to the Government of STAMEQ in the period of 2022 – 2030, specifically: the Draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations; Draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Product Quality; Project “Converting the number of industries to Standards, Metrology and Quality by 2025, with orientation to 2030”; National metrological standard development plan to 2035; Project “Development of national quality infrastructure in the direction of concentration, unity, synchronization and international integration”; National Standardization Strategy to 2030.

The Acting Deputy director general of the General Directorate of Standards, Metrology, and Quality further confirmed that the TCVN and QCVN systems have actively contributed to boosting productivity and product quality in light of STAMEQ’s accomplishments during the previous five years. Vietnamese goods and products guarantee the safety of people and the environment, boost exports, and make it easier for Vietnam to conduct business abroad.
