Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Asian Productivity Organization
The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) officially turns 60 years old (11/05/2021), APO Secretary General, PhD. AKP Mochtan has sent a letter to economies member expressing its appreciation and recognition for the contribution made by member economies to APO’s development and regional productivity. The Secretary-General also wants APO and member economies to achieve more success in the next stages.
Established on May 11, 1961, starting with only 8 member economies including Japan, India, Korea, Taiwan (China), Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand, APO experienced with current membership numbering 21, making a huge contribution to boosting productivity in member economies and the Asia-Pacific region.

The date of establishment of APO this year is a very special day, marking the moment when APO is officially 60 years old, the anniversary is considered a diamond according to East Asian conception. To commemorate this important period, since the beginning of 2021, APO has held a launching ceremony to celebrate its 60th anniversary in the form of online opening to a series of events held in the member countries.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh, on behalf of Vietnam, the country in charge of the APO President for the 2020-2021 tenure, made a welcome speech and together with the Secretary General of APO to launch activities for this anniversary year. Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of events have been turned online. In particular, the first anniversary event is the International Conference and Center of Productivity to be held on June 10, 2021 together with the 63rd APO Executive Board Meeting.

|The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) is an international, intergovernmental organization established on May 11, 1961. With 21 member economies, APO is the only organization. In the Asia-Pacific region, there are many activities implemented in member economies to improve productivity, contributing to promoting sustainable socio-economic development of the region. With the permission of the Prime Minister, Vietnam officially became a member of APO since January 1, 1996. STAMEQ (Ministry of Science and Technology) is authorized to represent Viet Nam’s standing office at APO and is the focal point for the implementation of APO’s programs and projects, bilateral projects with APO member national productivity organizations. Currently, the General Department of Representatives of Vietnam assumes the role of APO Chairman for the term 2020-2021, which is also the second time that Vietnam has assumed the chairmanship role of this organization since its accession.|
